TheDeeps exists in order to proclaim the glory of God and to seek the joy and fulfillment that can only be found through a relationship with Him. One of the greatest struggles in my life has been to take my relationship with Christ past the surface level of rote Bible readings and routine quiet times. I struggle to constantly find my joy in Christ rather than in this world around me and its cheap substitutes, and any joy or contentment that I might receive in my time with God is soon forgotten as I enter back into the world and get caught up in its stresses, struggles, and problems.
This blog seeks another way: a life lived as a Christ-follower rather than just a church attender, and a heart transformed by God’s Word that worships God in all of life and shares this love with others.
This blog desires to seriously consider the exhortation of Paul in Romans 12:1-2:
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
There are many who are much more capable and qualified to operate this blog, however right now we can use what God has given us to grow nearer to Him and increase our worship and joy in Him. It is my hope that through examining God’s Word, the experiences and writings of His followers throughout the ages, and through sharing our own common experiences and struggles that we will be able to strengthen and spur one another on as we seek to worship God and live in a relationship with Him.
The following is a list of some of the topics that will be discussed:
Worship of God
Continual communion with God
Prayer
Meditation
Scripture memory
Journaling
Fruits of the Spirit and how the Spirit transforms us through our relationship with God
I also plan to supply a generous helping of links and resources to provide opportunities for further growth and study.
Finally, I need to say that this blog does not seek to promote the author of this blog, but the Author of creation. May God be glorified in every thought, word, and post on this blog, and I pray that the Spirit uses our fellowship here to increase our joy in and worship of God!
Seeking God,
Mickey Friedrich
